Sunday, November 22, 2009

Hey Scott its Natalie and i just want you to now everything going to turn out right. I've never heard of a sickness that lasts your whole life so my advice is to is just stand strong and get through it. I miss you and so does everyone else I hope you'll get back before the New years. Even though it may seem like a horrible thing at least you'll have an awesome story to tell, well i guess that sums it up just now that i'm praying for you and so is everyone else! Get well soon!!!!!!
Scott -

As I was reading all of the special messages on your board, I was reminded of two of my favorite men in history who spent time in the hospital when they were kids.

The first is John F. Kennedy. The 42nd President of the United States. He was sick as a kid and spent time away from his classmates, neighborhood and family. President Kennedy was respected and admired by many. So are you.

The second is Frank McCourt. He was a teacher and a writer who won the Pulitzer Prize for his book, Angela's Ashes. McCourt was an Irish Catholic who had a lovely perspective on his childhood situation. So do you.

You are thought of often and admired from afar. Be brave and be well Scott.

Much love to you and your family.

Howdy!

As you all know, Scott has been at Presbyterian St. Luke's for 32 days. We are so thankful to each of you for your support and we continue to need your diligent prayers!

Reduce and Eliminate blood clots and abscesses (as described in earlier post);
Help Scott digest and hold nutrition;
Eliminate Scott's constant nausea;

TO EVERYONE FROM JOHN AND PATRICIA

Howdy Friends,

Thank you for all of the prayers, love, support, friendship, time, patience and food.  John and I will never be able to thank you enough... you all are an amazing group of friends.  We could not be more blessed.

Here is a very brief recap:
 Scott arrived at St. Lukes on Wed, Oct 21st,  with symptoms of appendicitis.  The doctors did not perform surgery  until Mon, Oct 26th.   During the surgery they discovered that his colon collapsed, he had bowel inflamitis, and colonitis and his appendix had ruptured and had adhered backwards.  He was put in ICU and during that time had a chest tube inserted in  his left lung because his lung was collapsing.  He was in an incredible amount of pain so they were trying to keep him comfortable. Then on Saturday, Oct 31 he underwent another surgery for bowel adhersion and two abscesses.  At that point they needed to put in two drainage tubes from that surgery.  He then returned to ICU again and this past Sunday, Nov 8.  Again test were run because Scott was again in incredible pain and the test revealed that he had a pulminary embolism in his left lung and a blood clot in his vena cava (main artery) and in a blood clot in his right groin.  Today he is still in ICU with hopes of him going to a regular room tonight, however, he is still spiking a fever on and off and they are monitoring the situation.  Our hope for today  is that he will be moved from ICU to a regular room.
They are watching the left lung area where there seems to be some areas of abscess still which they are treating currently with heavy antibotics and  still monitoring the blood clots.

He is resting comfortable today and he is anxious to get out of ICU and really is looking forward to coming home and being done with the hospital.

We are sorry that we have not been able to return everyone's phone calls and emails but we know you all understand and we hope that this little bit of information will help you all know the road that Scott has traveled to date.

Please continue to keep Scott in your prayers.  The abscesses and clots and fever are still areas of concern.

Thank you again for all your support and prayers.
Love, Patricia and John
